The Mummy - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Running Time: 113 minutes

Rating: PG-13

In theaters August 1, 2008

Explorer Rick O’Connell and his wife Evie have settled, reluctantly, into retirement in post-WWII Britain after exciting lives as archeologists and spies. (Who knew?). Brought out of retirement for one last mission for His Majesty, the couple are convinced to take an artifact to China. Little do they know that this is the first step in another encounter with reanimated mummies, this time the Chinese Emperor Han and his terra cotta army.

This third entry in The Mummy series has good points and not so good points. The god points - a great prologue with Jet Li and Michelle Yeon that sets up the curse the O’Connell’s break, an epic battle with Yetis, a trip to Shangri-La and some real great CGI battles and chase scenes.

The not-so-good point - Luke Ford, as the O’Connell’s son Alex all grown up, seems to be almost as old as his father and the chemistry between Brendan Fraser (Rick O’Connell) and Maria Bello (Evie O’Connell) doesn’t reach the same level as Fraser and Rachel Weisz (Evie in the first two Mummy moves) but these minor nit-picks don’t really detract from an overall fun ride.
